Prevention of Pressor response to Laryngoscopy: A Comparison of Lignocaine with Dexmedetomidine

Objective: To compare intravenous Lignocaine with Dexmedetomidine for prevention of pressor response to laryngoscopy. Study design and setting: Randomized Clinical Trial at Anesthesia Department, RIHS Islamabad. (1st May2019 30th October 2019) Methodology: 68 patients age 20-60 years, ASA status(I or II), planned elective surgeries under GA were included in this study randomly divided into groups A B by lottery method. Patients history hypertension, heart blocks, beta-blockers excluded from study. Group-A given injection 2% 1mg/kg 1min before induction Group-B 1ug/kg 15 min anesthesia. After premedication Midazolam, Nalbuphine, Ondansetron, Induction anesthesia was done Propofol Cisatracurium. intubated. Use stylet,BURP maneuver, incidence laryngospasm noted. Vitals after intubation Results: There no significant difference demographic profile,use a stylet, BURP maneuver both groups. ANOVA test shows decrease change Systolic BP group 2 3 minutes as compared however Diastolic Heart rate comparable Paired t showed groups( more group).Regarding paired insignificant group. Conclusion: Intravenous is superior prevent laryngoscopy
